Hanzo Hasashi

Under kind permission of Vincent Proce, author of this jawdropping concept...

I started my work on bringing Mortal Kombat's Scorpion character to life, being as much accurate as I can to Vincent's artwork. Here are some results as I'm at the start of clothing the model with 3ds Max 9 cloth modifier simulation.

Average male base model

Ok, now the break is over, time to stop lying on the couch being lazy :)

Next project is creating a base model of a male which I'll use as a start for many other future models and I hope to learn some anatomy during the process. Here is the base model with proper topology lines which is an advance of the topology study I did here.

Hair and overall colours

I've been fighting with hair for about two weeks now, testing all the methods through. I decided to make the hair medium straight. The hair are 3d but they still need some work especially some light specular to prevent them being flat. The colours and lighting changed again to test a new concept. It's still a sketch and I hope the mist will be done a little bit better with some pianting in 2d on the final image. The colours are very much inspired by Wojciech Siudmak palette.

I feel I'm near to the end at last.

Cloth end ...hopefully

Have I been complaining on lack of time? Now it was worse than before and it resulted with my long absence on the blog.

Here's what I did in the past weekend. The cloth is done, the spheres changed a bit, some background done and the rest untouched. I will get some things better (skin, eyes, eybrows, shaders etc.) after I'm done with modelling. And what's next to model? Well... some little lizards... :)

This time the base of cloth, many mistakes on it but it didn't visit ZBrush by now.
Eyelashes are now 3d, eyebrows still a proxy texture.

Face, eyes and skin shader

As you can see there are changes in the eyes and overall face areas. Eyelashes are currently painted but they're going to be a 3d geometry as well. Eyebrows are still texture but that's going to change too.

And here some tests, just rough renders from 3dsmax mental ray.

School Dreamer... RIP ?

Two days ago I've had a fatal crash of my hard drive...
Of course I've been doing backups, but the backup of School Dreamer is too old to make me continue it... too many things to do once again...
I'm levaing the project now and I don't know when or if I'm going to continue it. That's a punishment for working on it so damn long.

For now I'm starting something new for a difference.

Head and body topology

Here's the progress of head and body.

The head is halfway through, needs the cranium, ear and proper modelling for the neck. The head is very roughly based on the Higgins model I did in ZBrush some time ago.

The body is almost done, needs some loops "here and there".
